Neurofeedback Montreal
The Montreal Neurofeedback Center is a private, multi-disciplinary center offering Neurofeedback and Biofeedback training to reduce or eliminate everyday symptoms of stress, as well as brain based and functional disorders.
We are committed to non-pharmaceutical interventions that offer a high degree of safety and efficacy, as documented in the mainstream Medical and Psychological literature (see Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback or International Society for Neurofeedback and Research official web sites).
Biofeedback and Neurofeedback can be used as stand-alone interventions for stress management, or as part of an integrative treatment plan together with the appropriate clinical specialist.
Our international team of specialists come from the fields of Psychology, Neuropsychology, and Medicine.
Biofeedback and Neurofeedback Training
During Biofeedback Training, measurements of Muscle Tension, Heart Rate Variability, Skin Conductance and others peripheral measures are displayed on a monitor, using pleasantly engaging auditory and visual feedback.
These measurements represent the relative activity of the Sympathetic and Parasympathetic divisions of the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS).
During Neurofeedback Therapy specific parameters of the EEG; such as amplitude, coherence and phase, are measured and displayed back to the individual. These parameters represent the activity of the Central Nervous System (CNS), within specific brain areas and neural networks.
Biofeedback and Neurofeedback Specialists are uniquely qualified to coach their clients to learn self-regulation.
This translates into greater relative balance between sympathetic and parasympathetic tone within the autonomic nervous system. The effect of learning to shift one’s own physiology results in a reduction of symptoms in most stress related disorders.
Expected results of Biofeedback or Neurofeedback training usually include:
- Increased self awareness.
- More balanced physiology at rest.
- Improved Immune function.
- Increased ability to cope with and recover from stressors.
- Reduction in symptoms of Stress Related Disorders.
- Reduction in symptoms of Functional Disorders.
